Glen Ridge, NJ Interior DesignerABOUT ME

Grace Liloia, Principal Designer & Founder

Hi there!

I’m Grace, the founder of Whyte Birch Interiors. My journey into the design world began back in 2001, when I earned my Fine Arts degree in Interior Design and Interior Architecture. At the time, everything was done by hand—floor plans drafted with architectural scales, renderings sketched in pen and ink. It was a true art form. Today, I love that technology like AutoCAD lets us design with incredible precision and efficiency, while still allowing room for creativity and imagination.

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working in many different corners of the design world. Early on, I gained valuable experience collaborating with decorators and working in furniture and tile showrooms, learning the ins and outs of materials and finishes. Later, I spent more than 18 years with architectural firms, where I honed my technical expertise and developed a deep appreciation for the details that bring a space together.

In 2020, I decided it was time to take everything I’d learned and pour it into something of my own. That’s when Whyte Birch Interiors was born. While my personal design style leans toward a breezy coastal California aesthetic, one of the things I love most about design is its versatility. Every client is unique, and every home has its own story. My role is to interpret that story and create spaces that reflect the people who live in them. That’s why, when you look through my portfolio, you’ll see a wide variety of styles—it’s all about tailoring each project to fit my clients’ lives.

When I’m not designing, I’m happily rooted in New Jersey with my husband and our two boys. Life outside of work is often just as creative—you’ll usually find me in the kitchen experimenting with new recipes, hosting friends and family for gatherings, or heading to the beach for a little sunshine and relaxation.

My Style & Inspiration
Over the years, my design style has remained timeless, rooted in classic transitional design. While my love for the beach often inspires my work, many of my projects blend different styles to reflect each client’s unique vision. At its core, my personal style is a mix of classic elegance, relaxed beachy vibes, and a touch of old-world vintage charm.

My Clients
I’ve been lucky to work with so many different clients over the years—from those with “sky’s the limit” budgets to those who are more budget-conscious. No matter the project or the client, my goal is always the same: to create a space that’s not only beautiful, but also functional and tailored to the way you live.

How I Work
For me, the most important part of being an Interior Designer is truly listening to my clients. Understanding their needs and vision is the foundation of a successful project—and ultimately, a happy client. My process always follows a simple flow: listen, share inspiration, offer guidance, and collaborate every step of the way. It’s the recipe for great design!
